Dove Bottles Spark Backlash

I think by now, we have all established that if you are in marketing, you might even not as well try and create ads because there is a high risk that someone will find a problem with it.

In this episode of, "I hate 2017 because everyone is soft", Dove and it's newly launched bottle line has come under scrutiny for it's body-shaped bottles. According to the twitter-sphere and everyone who has nothing better to do, the personal hygiene company has come under siege for their latest display because some feel that Dove is missing the point in the fact that women "shouldn't be defined by their bodies".

Everyone who feels this way can shut the **** up (Shoutout mom for reading the blog). From a human being standpoint, I think that it is awesome that Dove attempted to do something like this, in a world where body shaming is now a real thing, whether online or directly to ones face, it only seems right that someone try and take a stand and make something right in the world.

Guess what a bathroom/shower products company could do?!? They created the bottles, that you use on your BODY, so that you can feel more comfortable. And for someone who hates the use of the "safe space" I think that it is pretty cool for Dove to do such a thing.

But, unfortunately for Dove, we live in a world where EVERYONE gets offended, you cannot be right in this day in age. Remember 2 + 2 = 4? Well if little Johnny says it's 5, he's right, because we wouldn't want his feelings to get hurt. Oh the sky is blue? Wrong, Becky sees it as gray because she is going thru tough times (DAAAAAAD, why can't we get UNLIMITED DATA, I've gotta update my followers!!!!). Everyone has an opinion, except theirs is right and yours is wrong.

While receiving this backlash, Dove has taken the bullet to reveal the need to get rid of safe spaces. I have been trying to advocate this in the most appropriate way possible, because like I said someone will probably get offended, but it needs to be said.

With the "safe space" that we have created, we have nurtured an age and generation of children that will be coddled through and through. Specifically, I remember back when Trump was elected, now I really don't want to get into politics, but after he was predicted to win the election, there were news outbursts that students would have counselors available to them if needed, and that they could sit together in the safe space and cry!

You know what our parents, and their parents, and so on did when times got tough? The fought back. That's what it means to be an american. Think about all the fundamental social movements such as women's rights, racial rights, LBGT rights, and so many other social movements. When these people, Susan B. Anthony, MLK, and so many other historical figures faced resistance, they didn't crawl away and get offended and whine! They fought the hell back.

It's tough to see that this backlash will probably make Dove have to recall their attempt to help women as best they can, but as you know, people get offended. We need to stop coddling the youth, stop giving trophies for 6th place, and get back to fighting for something you believe in instead of running to a comfort shed. I love this country, but it is seemingly getting softer by the day. If we want to really make America great again as a whole, we will stop this Safe Space nonsense, and let companies and people like Dove make a difference in a wholesome way.
